Topic for Week of March 26, 2012

We have occasionally talked this year about the theme of "connections". Write a few sentences about personal connections you see between yourself and "A Tale of Two Cities". Do you see a connection between you and one of the characters? or between you and something that happened in the novel? Let us know your personal thoughts on this question.

Andrew

If I were stuck in a cell like Charles Darney, I am pretty sure that I would drive myself insane. The separation from the rest of the world, not being able to feel the slight breeze on hot summer days, or the rays of light on bitterly cold winter mornings, would cause me to feel secluded, with nobody who could help me out of my misery. The feeling of isolation would then flourish inside me, having no place to escape, making me feel as if I didn't even exist in this world. I believe that Charles Darney is pacing back and forth only to keep his reality out of his mind, and to be honest, if I were in his shoes, I'd be doing the same action.
